About this object
This photograph depicts the destruction caused to central Napier after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February.
Rubble from collapsed buildings has filled the street and smoke can be seen in the sky.
This view looks down Emerson street from Marine Parade.
In the very left of the frame is the Murray Roberts and Co building, once two storied, which was located at the top of Emerson street, where it meets Marine Parade. To the right of this would have been the Masonic Hotel.
Photographer, unknown.
