About this object
View of Hastings Street looking towards Napier Hill thought to have been taken around 1887. On the extreme left of the image is the Union Bank of Australia. On the corner of Emerson Street stands the Criterion Hotel followed by the premises of A W L Cottrell (hairdresser, tobacconist and perfumer). On the extreme right of the image is the firm Neal and Close (draper and clothier). On the opposite corner of Emerson Street stands the Bank of Australasia followed by Sidney and Bain (formerly Hardy and Sidey, ironmongers) and the Masonic Hotel.
In the distance, the Clarendon Hotel and the Roope Brooking building are visible along Shakespeare Road.
