View Emerson Street looking away from Marine Parade towards the intersection between Emerson Street and Hastings Street. On the left side of the street stands the Union Bank of Australia, followed by the premises of McGruer and Company Limited (drapers), Blythes Limited (drapers, milliners and house furnishers) and Ross and Glendining Limited (warehousemen and importers). Along the right side of the street is the Criterion Hotel.

Emerson Street is occupied by cars and pedestrians. On the left, a tram pulls into the intersection from Hastings Street.
