This photograph depicts the destruction caused by the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February 1931 in the Central Business District of Napier.
Taken from lower Emerson street and looking towards Marine Parade - a Norfolk Pine can be seen in the distance.
In the right side of the photograph the E & D Building, which was situated on the corner of Emerson and Dalton Streets, can be seen standing fully intact.
