Brief Description
Map of Awa-o-Totara land block for sale, Wairoa County. Consists of second class land. Lands & Survey Reference: 600-9/17-459.
Land for Settlements Act. Land for sale for discharged soldiers, sale or lease. Applications are to go to the District Lands & Survey Office, Napier and are to close on November 8, 1917. An abstract of conditions of sale is included, W F Marsh as the Commissioner of Crown Lands. A special condition is noted on the abstract of land information that the proposed East coast railway line will traverse the block, and the right is reserved at any time to take the land required for the railway line without payment.
Land lots, area sizes, survey district boundaries are situated around the Matahoura Road, Mangangarara Stream, Waikare River and Matahoura Stream at the South. H Guthrie Smith is lessee of the Tutira block at the South end, Native owners have the Heru-a-Turea block at the West. K Mackenzie - lessee has land near the Mangangarara Stream. Thomas Burgess is owner of land at the South East end, bordering blocks for sale and the Matahoura Stream. The general area of the land blocks for sale is near Taraponui and South West of Tutira.
