About this object
An image of the site of Terangi Pā, taken in February 1864 during the New Zealand Wars. The Paterangi line was part of the third line of defence in the Waikato War, along which Pā Terangi was the largest Pā. The image looks toward the south.
In the photograph a soldier is standing along the barricade line which can be seen stretching into the distance to the left of the image. More people can be seen further back along the ridge, presumably walking the line.
Photograph attributed to Dr William Isaac Spencer.
