This photograph depicts Russell street in Hastings and the damaged buildings after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3 February 1931.
The leftmost building in the photograph is Tos Joe, Fruiterer and Confectioner.
Next building to the right is T Cunningham & Co, Auctioneers and Land Agents.
The next recognisable building is Gill Bros, which had two premises both on Russell Street, a Land Department and an Auction Mart and Produce Department.
Next to this is the Daily Telegraph office.
The rightmost building in this photograph, which is partially damaged is the Hastings Post Office which was on the corner of Russell and Queens Streets.
