This photograph depicts Tennyson Street, taken from the Marine Parade end looking towards Bluff Hill.

The destruction and damage of buildings and cars in the Central Business District of Napier caused from the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February 1931 can be seen.

The Public Trust building, one of the few buildings that survived the earthquake and the fire that followed, is in the background of the photograph.
