About this object
An image of several whare in the Ngaruawahia area on the Waikato or Waipa River. A whare is visible in the left foreground of the image with several other buildings behind it and one whare in the distance on the water's edge at the left of the image. Two tents are in the centre of the image behind a fenced and bushed in circular area. Trees and hills are discernable in the distance. The photograph was captured during the New Zealand Wars in December 1863.
