About this object
An image of the Taupiri Native Church. The front roof beams, or maihi, are decorated with traditional patterns, as is the entrance above the door. The door and windows in front are of a more gothic shape. The church is made of traditional Māori construction methods of the time. The church has a front fence in the image with a white picket gate. There are bushes in the front and left side of the church.

Photograph attributed to Dr William Isaac Spencer, December 1863.
