About this object
Image of a British military encampment at Meremere on the Waikato River, site of the first line of defence in the Waikato War. The Waikato River is visible behind the mounded area of the encampment. People and make-shift clothes drying facilities are visible in the foreground. Two Union Jack flags on poles can be seen within the camp site.
