About this object
This photograph gives a panoramic view looking down over Marine Parade, Herschell Street and Browning Street in central Napier after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3rd of February 1931.
The leftmost building in the image is Dr Moore's Private Hospital on Marine Parade.
To the right of this on Marine Parade is the Hawke's Bay Club, next to this is the Napier Courthouse which is in front of the Napier Athenaeum. All of these wooden buildings survived the earthquake damage and the fire that followed.
In the centre of the right half of the image is the intersection where Herschell and Browning Streets meet.
