About this object
The two photographs show Napier after the destruction caused by the 3 February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake and the subsequent fires. The skeleton of St Paul's Presbyterian Church can be seen on the right fore ground and beside it is the Public Trust building. Smoke from the fires can still be seen amongst the buildings. There are people on the extreme left viewing the devastation from the safety of the hill.
