Journal entitled: Te Whakanui - The Unofficial Journal of the 26th and 27 Reinforcements, Royal New Zealand Army.
Journal written for the 26th New Zealand Field Engineers, 27 Specialist Companies E, G, H and J as well as the 26th Infantry Reinforcements, the 26th Specialist Companies, 18 Pioneers, and 26th Medical Corps. It was written by men of these various units and published while at sea.
It includes various humorous essays, articles, jokes, and commentary on life as soldiers at sea. The last few pages are blank with the title: Shipmates o'mine where the owner of the journal would have gathered signatures. There is also a complete roll for all of the groups on the ship.
The owner of this journal has made pencilled notes throughout it, both making commentary and noting people who were from Hawke's Bay.
