View of Carlyle Street looking towards the Central Business District taken from Napier Hill around 1890. Timber dwellings line the left side of the street, while the old Recreation Ground is located on the right. The Royal Hotel can be seen on the corner of Carlyle Road and Chaucer Road. To the left, Guy's Hill Road is visible on Napier Hill. The Inner Harbour is visible on the extreme right.
