A photograph of earthquake damaged buildings in Hastings Street, Napier. At the far left in the photograph is the Caledonian Hotel which was located on the corner of Dickens and Hastings Streets. On the opposite side of the street are the Post Office, Bennett's Optometrists and Blythe's building.

Two x's is the strong room of the bank. Everything in the strongroom got burnt. You can see much better here where we were, the debris has been cleared away. Where x is where a phone box was but got burnt. That was the box that we held onto. This was a bank on the corner., Inscription, Handwritten
