Brief Description
Hand drawn rainfall registers for the years 1903-1945, one per year. Except that years 1905 and 1906 are on the backs of other years. The information was recorded at Ashcott, Takapau in the Waipawa district of Hawke's Bay. From 1903 to 1912 J B A'Deane has signed his name to them, after that the compiler's name is not on the registers.
Each chart has the location and date information at the top. Some of them include additional information such as: the total of rainfall for the year previous; the total of rainfall for the year recorded; the average time of day the recording was made; and occasionally the recorders name.
The earlier ones also have the rainfall totals for the several previous years in the top corners.
Each register has hand-drawn columns for each month, with the numerical dates in the furthest left column. The rainfall for each date of each month is then put in the appropriate square. If there was no recorded rainfall in that time, the square was left blank. Totals for each month are at the bottom of the columns.
