Included are reports on earthquake work and the work done by the Relief committee and information on the following: wages, artesian wells, finance by the Rehabilitation Committee, late applications for loans to repair dwellings, reimbursements, disbanding of committees, personal relief through hospital boards, repairs to native dwellings, Napier by-laws, Napier Citizens' Control Committee, Food Control, clothing, transport, evacuation, restoration, payments to persons engaged in emergency work, investigation and payment of claims, search for bodies and burial of the dead, medical attention and emergency hospitals, livestock and perishable goods, inspection of dwellings, repairs to damaged dwellings, personal relief to Europeans, personal losses by fire, provision for dependants of persons killed, assistance to elderly unemployed, medical claims, donations for special purposes, the nature of relief undertaken, sale of assets and repairs to grounds, collection of debts and progress reports.
The file includes blank copies of inspection forms and application forms for assistance and compensation. A proclamation issued by C O Morse and dated 18 February 1931, orders all residents of Napier to register in order to be able to continue to receive meals or food supplies. Also included are notes of an interview with Mr Coad on 20 April 1931 and a memorandum to the Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department in Wellington from the Public Trust Office in Wellington with copies of reports dated 15 and 19 February 1931.
