Brief Description
Plan of the Mangatahi Settlement, near Maraekakaho, Hawke's Bay District Number 203. L&S Ref: 775-1/07-24. Number 19365. Plan of the Mangatahi Settlement blocks IX, X, XIV and XV of the Matapiro survey district.

The lands are open for selection for lease in perpetuity in the Hawke's Bay county. The lands are open for selection under the provisions of the Lands for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900. Applications are to close Tuesday February 5, 1907. Included are instructions to applicants regarding previous ownership of lands. Signed Henry Trent, Commissioner of Crown Lands.

The plan shows land lots, area sizes, boundaries around the Ngaruroro River to the North, Station Road, New Kereru Road, Okau Road and the Maraekakaho River to the South. The Olrig Estate is to the West, bordering land blocks and the Mangatahi Stream. The Maraekakaho Estate is to the South East of the blocks, bordering the Maraekakaho River and adjoining J A McFarlane's property. John Riggir's property adjoins J A McFarlane's land and the Olrig Estate. M Walker has land at the North, bordering the Ngaruroro River and the Caron Stream. A locality map is included showing the general area to be West of Hastings, about 16 miles.

An attached newspaper clipping notes the names of the purchasers. There were 134 applicants and E H Taylor, Secretary of Land Board was in attendance of the ballot. Section 45 Block 15, 313 acres - Mary Hay; Section 41 Block 15, 194 acres - D M Picard.
