A diary and label as follows:
a) A diary written by William Colenso between 3 July 1873 and 12 May 1878 when he was the Hawke's Bay School Inspector for the Hawke's Bay Provincial Council. In the diary Colenso writes about his daily activities as School Inspector, the schools he visited, lists the letters he wrote, and the items he sent to schools.
An untitled newspaper cutting is glued on the back of the front cover. The subject of the article is William Colenso's salary as School Inspector.
