Brief Description
A map of the government purchase at Okawa, copied by J D H Buchanan from a rough pen sketch from the McLean papers at the Alexander Turnbull Library. This map was initially traced by J D H Buchanan on 29 May 1948 and retraced on 21 January 1949. The mapped area is delimited by the Okawa Stream on the left, the Mangatarata Stream along the top and the Tutaikuri River (sic) on the right. Within this mapped area, representing about 10,000 acres, are high and rough hills, high and low fern hills, low grass hills and flat grass land. In the bottom left corner is a small area labelled Mr Lowry.
