Brief Description
A map of the Owhaoko land block copied from the McLean papers in the Turnbull Library. This map was traced and drawn by J D H Buchanan on 21 January 1949. Features include named rivers and streams, the track to Napier, Whare Kuripapanga and Te Whaka Pā. Ngaruroro Block is located to the north of the mapped area and Mangmahane Block to the south.

A note written below the map states that this map was on the original lease to R D Maney dated 27 November 1876. He held Owhaoko Block Number 1 for 21 years at ₤500 per annum. The land was leased from Renata Kawepo, Noa Huke, Karaitiana te Rango, Ikakara te Raro, Horma Paerau te Ahunga, Te Hiera, Retimana te Rango.

On the other half of this document is a copy of Whitmore's Plan of Ōmarunui, traced and drawn by J D H Buchanan on 21 January 1949, from the McLean papers held at the Alexander Turnbull Library. Has notes on the principles of not using Europeans for actual conflict.
