Brief Description
A Public Trust head office file with assorted documents relating to the repatriation of Hawke's Bay refugees and the assistance provided to them through the Hawke's Bay Earthquake Relief Fund.

The file is stamped: Closed, and is numbered 50534. It contains letters, copies of letters, memoranda, telegrams, lists of names, applications for permits and extension of permits, minutes or copies of minutes, mounted newspaper cuttings relating to refugees and repatriation. Information on refugee numbers outside Hawke's Bay is provided by the Red Cross and the file includes information on transport arrangements for the repatriation of refugees. Documents are signed or initialled by or on behalf of the author. Two printed memoranda circulars issued by New Zealand Government Railways head office on 18 February 1931 are instructions to stationmasters regarding refugee cards and tickets.
