Brief Description
Two cardboard Soldier's Service Books dated 1945 to 1946.

a) Soldier's Pay Book for use on active service. Printed on the concertina pocket is a reminder to not discuss military activities with anyone. Attached to the spine inside the folder is a booklet entitled: Soldier's Service Book. It has a page of instructions to soldiers about the use and responsibilities of the person owning the booklet. On the back of that page is a page of instruction called: Rules for the Soldier's Guidance, which are rules and advice about general conduct. Then there are several pages with areas to be filled in to identify the soldier's progress in the army, as well as his medical and dental charts.

b) Paybook with a tan cover with Harold Cyril Bryant's ID number on the front. The first page of the pay book has instructions to the soldiers for when the book is to be used and how, and what information should go into it. Then are pages for personal identification and next-of-kin. A page for daily rates of pay based on rank and changes of rank. The rest of the pages are for cash payments out to be noted. There are official dated stamps in many places.
