Copy of minutes, meeting of conference between the undermentioned Local Bodies, held at Borough Council Chambers at 2:15 pm, dated 9 February 1931: Napier Harbour Board, Hawke's Bay River Board, Public Works Department, Napier Borough Council, Hawke's Bay Hospital Board and Hawke's Bay County Council. A list of names follows of people who attended the meeting and who they represented. The meeting for the protection of district from flood danger. Mr Hay, Engineer to Rivers Board stated that: an inch more water over and above the 1897 flood would today spread over an area of approximately 10 miles in extent as a result of cracking and dropping of stop banks due to earthquake. To restore Tutaekuri river would cost 4,500 pounds, Ngaruroro 2,500 pounds. Motion by Mr Jull that 7,000 to 10,000 pounds be granted by the Government to the Hawke's Bay Rivers Board for restoration. Seconded by Mr Hoadley.
