A group of assorted documents in a folder numbered 11 and titled: Stores Issue.

A handwritten letter dated 19 February 1931 to the Secretary of the Central Relief Committee from W Jarvis, a clerk of the Taradale Town Board. The letter requests the supply of registration cards.

A carbon copy of a letter dated 11 March to the manager of the Farmers’ Co-operative Association in Hawera. The letter is regarding the free railage of lime. The letter suggests the matter be taken up with the General Manager of Railways, Mr Sterling.

A carbon copy of a letter dated 21 February to the Postmaster in Napier. The letter advises that Mr A Hobson has replaced Mr Stephenson as the Chairman of the Food Control Committee.

A letter from the Post and Telegraph chief engineer’s office dated 19 February 1931 to the Chairman of the Napier Citizens’ Control Committee regarding a letter to the Chief Postmaster about telephones facilities for the Daily Telegraph. The letter is signed by the telegraph engineer.

A handwritten letter dated 14 February 1931, from the Hawke’s Bay Rivers Board to the Secretary of the Relief Committee in Napier. The letter is regarding the installation of a telephone at Avon House in Shakespeare Road. The letter is signed by A R Ross.

A memorandum dated 20 February 1931 from W E Barnard, deputy Chairman of the Napier Citizens’ Control Committee. The memorandum is regarding advice to the owners of dwellings about the reinstatement of chimneys and repairs to dwellings. A carbon copy of the memorandum is attached with a typed notification to the Daily Telegraph, Hawke’s Bay Herald Tribune asking them to insert the message as an advertisement in one issue.

A letter dated 20 February 1931 to the Secretary of the Napier Citizens’ Earthquake Control Committee from the Hawke’s Bay Electric Power Board. The letter acknowledges receipt of a letter and advises that Mr Steele’s request for power to run pictures at McLean Park is being catered for. The signature on the letter is indecipherable.

A carbon copy of a letter dated 10 February 1931 to H H Wylie of the Power Board in Napier from the Chairman of the Napier Citizens’ Relief Committee. The letter is regarding the supply of power to C B Hansen’s premises at Stewart Nash Motors and to Nelson Park.

The letter is regarding instructions from the Mayor of Wellington, Mr Troup, for the Assistant Electrical Engineer, Mr F Malcolm to proceed to Napier to assist with the restoration of lighting supplies for emergency hospitals.

A carbon copy of a letter dated 9 February 1931 to Major Nicholls of the Defence Department at Nelson Park from the Chairman of the Napier Citzens’ Earthquake Committee. The letter requests the supply of three tents for shelter for people at Petane and Eskdale.

A carbon copy of a letter dated 11 February to the storekeeper at the Defence Department from the Secretary of the Relief Committee. The letter requests the supply of a tent to Napier Bricks Limited.

Two carbon copies of a letter to Major Nicholls, the officer in charge of Nelson Park requesting the supply of 5 square tents for Fire Brigade officers’ accommodation. The signature is on the first copy is on behalf of R Girling Butcher. The second copy is initialled. Both copies are dated 7 February 1931.

A carbon copy of a memorandum dated 11 February 1931 from the Chairman of the Napier Earthquake Relief Control Committee. The memorandum is an authorisation for the Daily Telegraph to obtain two Linotype machines from Swailes Limited.

A carbon copy dated 11 February 1931 of a copy of a wire received on Wednesday 11 February. The wire from the Mayor advises that the Palmerston North camps are full and that they will now act as a clearing station to other towns.

A letter from Burch Hopkirk Limited dated 6 February 1931. The letter is addressed to the officer in charge of the devastated area and is regarding a roll of rubber flooring lying in premises occupied by Paxie and Brough in Dickens Street. The letter is signed by the Director of Burch Hopkirk.

A carbon copy dated 6 February 1931 from T A McKibbin to Mr Girling Butcher requesting that he send Mr Gardiner, Chairman of the Progress Association in Westshore, six bell tents for nervous women and children. Below this is the response from Mr Girling Butcher to Major Nicholls asking him to attend to the matter. Typed at the bottom is a message from R J D Davis advising that no tents are available but a large supply is expected within 24 hours. Attached to the letter is a page with the original handwritten messages from T McKibbin, R Girling Butcher and R J D Davis.

A typed copy of a letter dated 6 February 1931 to the Secretary of the Relief Committee from F W Moa of the Q M Field Hospital with a request for bell tents. Typed below this is a message from R Girling Butcher asking Major Nicholls to arrange this request.

A handwritten message from the O C Tents in Hastings to the O C Police regarding tents.

A carbon copy of a memorandum dated 6 February 1931 from the Central Executive in Napier to Major Nicholls. The memorandum is regarding a request for tents for people sleeping out at Bay View.
