Brief Description
Communication regarding the supply of coal following the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake.

A two page handwritten telegram on a New Zealand Railways form sent to H H Sterling from Dennehy. The telegram has a Napier Railway postmark dated 9 February 1931. Dennehy writes that Renown Colleries have asked for free conveyance for kitchen and household coal forwarded to C H Cranby and Company in Hawke's Bay for distribution to earthquake sufferers.

An urgent handwritten memorandum to M Dennehy in Wellington from H H Sterling acknowledging receipt of his telegram. The memorandum has a handwritten annotation.

A typewritten letter dated 10 February 1931 from C O Morse to F G Smith of the Transport Department regarding an attachment for Mr Smith's information. C O Morse advises that an application was made by Renown Colleries Limited regarding coal to be consigned to Cranby and Company Limited. The letter is signed in pencil by C O Morse.

A typewritten letter dated 10 February 1931 from C O Morse to Mr Stephenson advising him that two trucks consigned to C H Cranby and Company Limited are arriving from Renown Colleries in Waikato. It asks that he take charge of the distribution of the coal to those who are judged to be entitled to it. The letter is signed in pencil by C O Morse.

A printed inland postcard addressed to William I Creigh or Williams and Creagh in Napier. The postcard has a Huntly postmark dated 4 February 1931 and includes a green printed halfpenny stamp and the words: Inland Post-Card. The postcard is from Glen Afton Colleries Limited regarding deliveries of coal consigned on 4 February 1931. It lists the truck number, grade, amount in tons and hundredweight.
