Object detail

Brief Description
A memorandum from the Earthquake Relief committee at Tiffen Park House to Mr A Hobson, the food controller at the Barrack's building in Kennedy Road, Napier. The memorandum is dated 9 March 1931

The memorandum is signed on behalf of the secretary of the Earthquake Relief committee, surname Douglas. The subject is regarding claims against the food controller's department received on 7 March from Messrs Burch & Company Limited in Wellington. The writer asks that the claims be checked, certified and returned as per the memorandum on 27 February, along with the supporting invoices for submission to the Relief committee for approval. The writer adds that it is possible that the goods were already charged for in a New Zealand Railways claim received on 24 February and asks that Mr Hobson look into the matter to ensure there is no duplication in the account.

The writer also states that a letter and requisitions regarding Sargood Son & Ewen is enclosed as it may be required when checking a previous statement of account. No letter or requisitions are with the memorandum.
