A commemorative ribbon of the South African (Boer) War which reads:
Hawke's Bay Contingent N.Z. Rough Riders. We wish you God Speed and Good Luck. Mr & Mrs Close & Miss Hobbs. 12th February 1900.
It is a green ribbon with brown printing. The British crest is at the top and at the bottom is a horseshoe and some clover.
