The photograph shows Marine Parade, Napier. Part of the colonnade is to the right with the Tom Parker fountain in the centre and the gardens to the left. The skating rink is on the left in the foreground.

The swimming baths can be seen behind the fountain. Bluff Hill stands proud with the remains of the damage from the 3rd February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake visible.

The Norfolk pines which border Marine Parade are on the left.
