Brief Description
Handwritten letter from Francis Hamlin to an unknown person describing the general feeling among his men and asking for direction when undertaking the surrender of Pai Mārire. He also writes that the statements of certain officers has made it more difficult to gain the trust of Māori.

Three maps of the area surrounding Waikaremoana Lake. The map shows certain towns and geological features as well as areas of conflict where enemy boats or provisions where found. One map outlines the route taken by Mr Hamlin and his troops.

Despatches for the period 25 April 1870 to 12 June 1870. Each date is listed with what the column did for that day. Enemies killed, wounded and captured are listed by name if available, as are any provisions found and destroyed, and other equipment. The despatches also list any intelligence gathered. Te Kooti is mentioned many times as are the other rebel chiefs.
