Object detail
Brief Description
A handwritten batch of lists for supplies provided to citizens, businesses, government departments and camps in Hawke's Bay following the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake, drawn up for account purposes.
Each list has the title of to whom the goods were supplied and the date and items supplied. Annotations on each list show that the goods have been invoiced. One of the lists shows the credits for returned items.
Included with the lists is a typed letter, on Napier Citizens' Control Committee letterhead paper, dated 20 February 1931. The letter, signed by Mr R Girling Butcher, is to the officer in charge of food control in Napier requesting that no food be charged to the Police Department until Saturday 21 February and stating that all food supplied until the night of February 20 be charged to the Relief Committee.
Among the lists is a sheet of paper with two handwritten groups of figures. On the reverse side of this sheet is a typewritten message headed: GRACE. This states information as supplied by Mr E J Rule, a commercial traveller from Palmerston North, who descibes the conditions of the people and the area at Waikoau, Matahora, Waikare, Mohaka and Darkie Spur, that he observed on his journey from Wairoa.
