Brief Description
Index cards for re-instating dwellings damaged by the earthquake of duplicate and declined applications. The applications were incorporated into previous applications. The cards have details of dwelling owners who had repair work to their dwelling located in Napier damaged by the 1931 earthquake.
The duplicate index card relates to Applications for Financial Assistance - Not Exceeding £100 - for Purpose of Re-instating Dwelling Damaged by Earthquake forms. At the top of the index card the Owner's name and address they occupy as well as the Property House number or name that the application is filed in relation to, as well as the application number. The middle section of the card lists details of the nature of the work authorized, including work to Chimneys, Tanks and Stands, Plumbing, Drains, Lighting, Carpentry, Glazing and Other Repairs. The name of the contractor who completed the work and the amount authorised to complete the work is listed, as well as any payments made. The bottom section of the index card is to record repayments, made by instalments. Catalogued as found in their original bundles.
