Brief Description
Life after Quake and other verses, a booklet written and illustrated by Ruth E Clarkson, 1931. Signed and dated on the front cover.
Included in this booklet are the following poems:
The Napier after quake alphabet;
Life in Hastings 3 weeks after quake (no electricity);
Life in Napier 3 months after quake, chimneys being built, brickeys, sand, mortar, plumbers, carpenters, drain-layers and gas just coming on!;
If men became women for a month;
A protest by a pedestrian.
Accompanying each poem are small sketches drawn and painted in watercolours by Ruth Clarkson. A sketch on the front cover reads: Bricks and more bricks, I hope I never see a brick again. So do I.
