Brief Description
A letter dated 6 May 2001 from Brian Rowe to Kataryn [sic] Rowe, recalling memories of the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake.

Brian's parents were Fred and Ivy Rowe. The author was four years old at the time of the earthquake and his memory is of being with other people in a tent near the gas works. He recalls people going up to the beach to watch the receding water. His father who was the postmaster, went to the the ruins of the main post office, to try to recover important records.
