Brief Description
A letter from Dorothy Peapell, nee Roland, recalling her memories of the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake and saying that she did attend the afternoon tea for survivors, but was disappointed, as she did not meet anyone from her old school.
Dorothy was seven years old at the time of the earthquake and attended Hastings West School. She writes that following the earthquake her parents moved to Whangarei as it was too much for her father who had lost his garage business in the earthquake. The family had lived in Stortford Lodge, Hastings.
