Brief Description
A two page letter from Nance Wilson nee Oliver describing her experience of the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake.

Nance lived at the Meeanee Store and was walking from the school to the store to collect the mail when the earthquake struck. Nance remembers the Navy coming to blow the bridge up in order to avoid any flooding, and sleeping in a paddock for six weeks. They cooked outside and their artesian well supplied water to everyone.
