The photograph shows damage in Tennyson Street, Napier caused by the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931. The view looks west down Tennyson Street. The collapsed band rotunda in front of the Masonic Hotel can be seen at the extreme left. The top of the Public Trust building can be seen in the distance.
