About this object
The photograph shows damage caused to buildings in Hastings Street by the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931. Hastings Street has been cleared of debris but evidence of the damage still exists. The tramline has not been removed. The Post Office is the sixth building along. Smoke damage from the fires can still be seen on the exterior.
