About this object
The photograph shows damage to buildings caused by the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931. Hastings Street has been cleared of debris but evidence of the damage still exists. The tramline has not been removed. Part of the Waiapu Cathedral can be seen in the background. Shades building is on the extreme left.
