Brief Description
Architectural plan, Amner's Lime Company Limited. Tin Town, post 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake.

a) An architectural plan for the alterations and extensions to shops owned by Amner Lime Company who were situated in Clive Square and occupied by McGreggor and Sneddon. The plan shows the front elevation, the ground plan with a scale of one-eighth of an inch to one inch, and the block plan at a scale of one-sixteenth of an inch to one inch. Details of the new work to be done is highlighted in red. The permit number is 1003 and the plan number is E/31/3.

Included with the plan are four documents, two applications for temporary building permits for business premises made to the Napier Citizens Control Committee Municipal Reconstruction Department by Amners Lime Company Limited and two letters addressed to The Building Inspector, Napier.

b) Application, No.1003 from Amner Lime Company Limited, dated 13 February 1931. The application requests permission to erect temporary premises in Clive Square, Napier. It lists the nature of business of one shop as electrical engineer and one for which the purpose is as yet unknown. Also listed are details of the materials to be used. The Section number is 237A and the application is signed in blue by H W Amner. Permission to proceed was given on 17 February 1931 (written on the document as 17-2-21). The number 1055 is written on the document.

c) A second application, numbered 1004, dated 14 July 1931, signed by Harold William Amner and listing him as the applicant of the permit for Amners Lime Company Limited. Permission is requested to erect temporary business premises at Clive Square, Napier on Section 237-A with the nature of business listed as one shop for an electrical engineer and one other shop not yet known. It estimates the cost at £200-00 and the materials to be used, as wood and iron. The number 1056 is written on the document.

d) A letter printed on Amners Lime Company Limited letterhead paper describing the company as Grain, Produce and Builders Merchants and Manufacturers of Lime and Lime Products is dated 12 February 1931. The letter is addressed to The Building Inspector, Napier and requests permission to temporarily erect two shops on their Clive Square property. It details the measurements and materials to be used including the framework and inside materials. The letter is signed by H Amner who requests that application be treated as urgent. The name Mr Williams is handwritten at the bottom right of the letter.

e) A letter dated 13 February 1931, requests that the building inspector give the bearer of the letter an application form for the firm. It is stamped and signed by Amners Lime Company Limited. The name Mr Williams is handwritten at the bottom right of the letter.

f) The plan and the documents are in an A4 envelope typed and handwritten with the application and permit details.
