About this object
The photograph shows the back of Dr Moore's Hospital, also known as Upoko Poito, from Herschell Street, Napier, after the devastating 3 February 1931 earthquake. The front of the building has tipped backwards causing the centre to collapse. The back of the building has been partially destroyed. The back of the Hawke's Bay Club can be seen on the right hand side of the photograph.
