Māori and have written to the editor to show their grief, saying that at 10 past 4, Pākehā and Māori formed a meeting and feast of mourning to express their grief.
Different Māori people spoke of their sadness eg:
Pohipi - Tukai - Rangi with a song and Taupiri also spoke and sang of sorrow for Sir Donald McLean.
