Brief Description
Map, contour, Matruh East - Egypt. 1:100,000 Western desert. MDR 466/604.
Shows the Ras Umm el Rakham and Matruh on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and Ras Alam el Rum area, as well as the inland areas to Deir Abu Khalifa.
Also shows wireless telegraph stations, war cemeteries, railways, roads - main and secondary, rivers, wire defences, hill features, Sheikh's tombs with buildings, contour lines, topographical features, marshes, salt lagoons and trigonometric points.
A glossary of terms is included translating Arabic terms to English eg:
Darb - Camel track.
Dauwar - House.
Kulet - Little house.
The railway line is noted running along the coast from Garawla to Matruh. Inland areas are only suitable for light vehicles.
