Brief Description
Plan, land block plans of Wairoa Central Business District buildings.
Titled - Council of Fire and Accident Underwriters Association of New Zealand - Block plans of buildings in Hastings.
Consists of 7 plans bound in hard backed book type, of buildings in Wairoa.
The inside cover has a key to signs and terminology used throughout the book.
1) Titled - Key to block plans.
Consists of of a street plan of Wairoa Central Business District showing the area from Mahia Avenue, Second avenue on the North side of the Wairoa River and Marine Parade, Queen street and King Street on the South side.
Each sheet shows individual buildings and the occupiers names. Noted is the type of structure eg - concrete, brick, wood etc.
Some of the occupiers names include:
2) Block No 1.
Paul's fish supply - Paul street, J H Rhodes - Marine Parade.
3) Block No 2.
McCullock, Buller & Spencer - Locke Street, Hawke's Bay Motor Company Ltd - demolished - Queen street.
4) Block No 5.
Coker's Cordials - Bridge Street, Deacon's service station - River Parade. Plan as at 1949.
5) Block No 6.
Ferry Hotel - Carroll street and T D Stewart - Carroll Street.
Two sheets included with plans:
1) Acquisition receipt - Photocopy stating that New Zealand Insurance donated the above plans.
2) Typed sheet titled - Alterations and additions to block plans.Third revision.Memo for block 1 to 5 Marine Parade, Queen street, Hunter Brown Street and Carroll Street, noting what alterations have been made to the block plans in Napier, Hastings and Wairoa.
Dated March 1955. Handwritten at bottom - All alterations completed. Ken Anderson, 13th January, 1961.
