This is the Nelson Street part of Electric Batteries Ltd . The name Cay is not correct .. It is CAV serevice dept .. CAV were manufacturers of automotive electrical equipment - as were LUCAS etc) so cars fiutted with CAV made products were serviced and repaired there . With exception of the damaged part of the building at the left end - the building still stands .. Now occupying part of it is "The Stove Shop" ..(in where the name Electric Batteries is ) . After Quake other firms occupied the building . ... McCormicks Garage , M,J, Kelt ltd . (The reference to Heretaunga St would have been researched by someone ..... Electric Batteries had a shop , mainly with cycles business there).
