About this object
The photograph shows the rebuilding of Napier businesses after the devastating 3 February 1931 earthquake and subsequent fire. The image has been taken from Napier Hill looking over the central business district. Tennyson Street is in the foreground and Emerson Street runs parallel. The newly constructed Market Reserve building is on the left and the back of the two storied Napier Post Office is in the middle distance. The A B Hurst building, located on Emerson Street, is on the right. The skeleton of St Paul's Presbyterian Church is visible at the bottom right hand corner.
