Brief Description
Map, Napier - Taupo Road.
Pictorial map of the Taupo road from Napier, Lochinver Station, Opepe and Taupo.
Features visible are roads, mountains and rivers. Recorded are various descriptions along the Napier Taupo road such as near Glen Garry Station is where a change of five horses took place for the mail coach; the Te Haroto blockhouse was built in 1869-70; a Māori named Hinerua drowned in the Rangateiki River. His body was never found, but years later a skeleton was discovered, hence the name Rangateiki, which means - the finding of a skeleton.
