About this object
The photograph has been taken after the devastating 3 February 1931 earthquake and subsequent fire. The image shows the remains of Napier township. Emerson Street is on the right. Tennyson Street runs parallel. The temporary buildings built to house the Criterion and Masonic hotels can be seen on the right hand side. The roads have been cleared of debris to allow vehicle access.
