Map, Geological map of North Island.

The areas and land formations shown are sedimentary rocks, quarternary, tertiary, cretaceous, jurassic, triassic and devonian to ordovicvian rocks.
Noted also are sites of igneous rocks, both volcanic and plutonic.
Found around the Napier - Hastings area is chiefly Quarternary, recent and pleistocene rocks, while surrounding Hawke's Bay it is mainly pliocene composition.
